Bullsburg is a learning game about stocks and options, made by Bullsburg LLC of Fredericksburg, Virginia. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app or the website.
Most players never give us any personal information: there are no accounts to create, no analytics and no tracking. The only personal information we ever hold comes from Bullsburg for Schools (see below): a student's first name and last initial, and a teacher's email address. We never sell or share it, and we never use it for ads. The iPhone, iPad and Android apps offer optional, kid-safe video ads that a player can choose to watch for bonus pretend coins. Those ads are provided by Google AdMob and are set up for children: no personalized ads, no advertising ID, and only general-audience (G-rated) content. The website has no ads.
Your XP, stars, levels and Practice Market progress are saved on your own device. Unless you sign in with a school account, they are never sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app (or clearing the website's data) erases them.
When a school buys Bullsburg for Schools, a student taps “I'm a student”, types the class code from their teacher, and types their first name and last initial. We do not ask students for an email address, password or any other contact information. For each student we store only: that name, their class, a random student key (used to sign in on another device), and their game progress (stages, stars, quiz results and streak). This lets progress move between devices and lets the student's own teacher see it. Nobody else can see it, and it is never sold, shared or used for advertising. School students never see ads or purchase screens.
Teachers sign in to the teacher dashboard with their school email address and a password, after we give them a one-time setup code. We use a teacher's email only to sign them in and to contact them about their school's account.
We act on behalf of the school, which controls its students' information under the U.S. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and, for students under 13, gives consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for this educational use only. A school can ask us to review or delete its students' information at any time. We delete a school's student information within 90 days after its license ends, or sooner if the school asks.
School account information is stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in the eastern United States, over encrypted connections.
A player can get an invite code to share with friends. To make codes work, the app sends our database a random ID that the app created for that device; it contains no name, email or other personal information. When a friend uses the code, both players get pretend coins.
Ads never play on their own. They only play when a player taps “Watch” in the Add Cash screen, and each one earns 250 pretend coins (up to 10 a day). Bullsburg tells Google AdMob that it is directed to children, which under Google’s rules turns off personalized and interest-based ads and remarketing. Bullsburg also blocks the device advertising ID. To show and measure an ad, AdMob’s software may still process limited technical information such as the device’s IP address (which can suggest a rough location), basic device and app information, and whether the ad was shown or tapped, for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. See Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and Google's rules for child-directed apps at https://support.google.com/publisherpolicies/answer/10436800. If you prefer no ads, simply never tap “Watch”. Everything else in the game works the same.
The app is free to download and the first world (Stock Street) is free. The full game is an optional auto-renewing subscription ($4.99 a month or $44.99 a year) handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). You can cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings, and your progress is kept. Optional coin packs (extra pretend cash for the Practice Market) are handled the same way. Coins are pretend money for practice only, have no real-world value and cannot be withdrawn. We never see your name, email, payment card or account details. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies cover those payments.
Your saved game is sealed with a checksum so it can't be edited to add coins or progress, and purchases are confirmed by Apple or Google before any coins are added. School account data is protected by database rules that let a student see only their own progress and a teacher see only their own classes.
Bullsburg is designed to be safe for kids. Outside of school accounts, we collect no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. School accounts collect only what is described above, with the school's consent. The optional video ads are tagged as child-directed so Google does not personalize them or build a profile of the player. Purchases are protected by a grown-up question inside the app, plus the purchase protections on the device.
All companies, prices and news in Bullsburg are pretend. Nothing in the app is financial advice.
If this policy ever changes, we will update this page and the date above.
